The Communications Committee releases the channel assignments (ICS205) as early as possible, usually between two and four weeks before race day. Many of the Amateur Radio repeaters used on Marathon Monday are owned and operated by Amateur Radio operators and clubs.

Each year, permission must be requested from the resource owners/trustees to use their repeaters and then those repeaters need to be tested and the configuration confirmed. This process takes time and we try to avoid releasing the ICS205 until we're reasonably confident there won't be any substantial changes.
